Full Product Launch
Preparations are now underway to release the full Flex Rewards app in Q3. From next month onward, we will commence staged releases of new versions of the app that will include major revisions to the current UI, as well as the debut of the long-awaited GAT Wallet and Rewards Marketplace. The coordinated roll-out of the app through Q3 will mark the first step in a long strategic campaign to compete head-to-head with established rivals in the global retail and restaurant promotions industry.
As some of you may already know, we released the first public beta version of the Flex Rewards app on March 15, 2019. Since then, we have acquired an active user base now in the thousands, and are issuing rewards weekly from a roster of over 30+ merchants. This represents a significant achievement for only 3 months of beta operations. There is more to come. User and merchant numbers are growing, and the upcoming roll-out will see a significant increase in marketing and business activity.
BIG App Improvements & UI Revamp
In terms of recent dev work, the team has worked very hard over the last couple of months to build a LOT of major enhancements into the app.
These include an overhaul to the overall look and feel of the app, as well as additional features:
- all rewards (including airdrop rewards) now visible on map
- all merchant rewards (including airdrop rewards) now visible on store pages
- map will have carousel of mini-reward tiles
- Giftbox will have 7-day timer for user to collect reward
- rewards will have new expiry date notification feature
- marketplace rewards grouped by reward type
- store icons on map indicate industry category
- reward tiles indicate distance to nearest store
- all rewards tiles will have mini-action buttons (collect or redeem)
- mini-action button changes to “redeem” if within 100m of store location
- store page design revamp
- new mobile redeem instructions
- new mobile redeem success pages with links to more rewards
- ability to deep-link to specific pages within app
- refreshed on-boarding screens
Implementing all of these new enhancements has not been easy. The new features increased the team’s workload dramatically. Not only was major front-end work required, but also significant parts of the back-end data structures had to be revised in order to accommodate the new business logic on the front-end. Nevertheless, we committed to prioritizing these changes in order to maximize the impact of the upcoming marketing activities. It has been a heads-down grind for the team for weeks!
Patents, Trademarks and Other Online Assets
The patent application process has been progressing well. There have been no objections or challenges to date, and we are patiently awaiting further news. Trademarks for our various brand assets have also been registered in all our major target markets. Also, with the assistance of our local brand and marketing agency Untamed, we are in the midst of creating new online assets that will debut a professional lifestyle blog and entertainment review. These assets will be deployed specifically to draw attention to our app, our merchants, and to grow the Flex Rewards community.
Entering Phase II of the GAT Project
We are now leaving behind the initial stages of the project development cycle, and entering a new phase in which the team focuses primarily on acquiring users, merchants and building brand awareness. Our key goal is to make the app a part of the everyday consumer experience, and to build a critical mass of users for the active trading of rewards for GAT. This is an exciting time for the project!
